Local storage is SSD storage on the instance itself.

Behind the scenes, local storage is on a single SSD on a compute node.

Each of the has a specific amount of local storage (e.g. the xe.tiny has 32GB of local storage.

When you create an instance, it will default to local storage. If you need more space (or need more reliable storage) use instead.

If you're operating an important, critical or long-term service, use volume storage instead of local storage.

While we make every effort to ensure the continued integrity of data on local storage, volume storage will always be superior for ongoing instance use, as it is replicated across 3 drives on one of our storage nodes.
